Bartender

SUMMARY

Great drinks are the job. Great nights are the point. Silk is Utica's spot for craft cocktails, a full savory menu, and desserts made in house, and we're looking for a bartender who can make every seat at the bar feel like the best one in the room.

Behind our bar, you'll craft cocktails and zero-proof drinks for guests at the bar and throughout the dining room. You'll know every spirit on the shelf and every plate coming out of the kitchen, and you'll know exactly which ones belong together. Whether it's someone's first visit or their fiftieth, you'll treat them like a regular and steer them toward the thing they didn't know they wanted.

You'll join a small, ambitious team with a menu that keeps evolving, plus spirit tastings, paired dinners, brunches, and private events that keep every week interesting. If you can make an evening worth savoring, we'd love to meet you.

JOB DUTIES

  • Greet every guest within 30 seconds

  • Know every drink, wine, beer, and menu item, and follow the bar book

  • Pour accurate, consistent measures every time

  • Ring every order into the POS before making it

  • Handle payments and transfer tabs accurately

  • Communicate clearly with servers so nothing gets lost or missed

  • Never over-serve. Follow alcohol awareness procedures without exception

  • Develop seasonal cocktails and stay current on trends

  • Train servers and front-of-house staff on our drinks

  • Answer phones when the host or manager is unavailable

  • Keep the bar clean, sanitized, stocked, and rotated

  • Prep perishables as needed. Waste costs money

  • Set up and break down the bar so the next shift starts ready

  • Report problems to your manager immediately

  • Show up polished, professional, and ready to work

  • Complete all side work and manager-assigned duties

JOB REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old with reliable transportation to be considered for this position.

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of bartending experience

  • Must be outgoing, pleasant, and have the desire to provide an upscale and unforgettable experience to all guests

  • Must be willing to learn and share what you have learned with other staff members

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds

  • Must be able to stand for 8 hours

  • Must hold a valid ServSafe® Alcohol Training Certificate

  • Must be a team player and be willing to work in a team environment

COMPENSATION

  • $12-16/hour, depending on experience
